- There seems to be a general theory among the more adept cycling
- nutters that the way to avoid breaking the law is to break it again.
- If I had a pound for every time I've had to leap out of the way of
- fast cyclists in the middle of the night going down a one-way-street
- in the wrong direction on the pavement without lights I'd be, well, a
- bit wealthier than I am at present.
-
- This especially seems to be the case with the cycle ban we have in
- bits of Cambridge (which, for the record, I would like to say is a
- great idea - first time I've been able to go shopping during the day
- without risking my life when I cross the road). I've yet to see anyone
- break the ban going in the right direction down the pedestrianised
- bits (although it is done), but there are loads who cycle down the
- streets in the wrong direction (which is weird, since there is a
- parallel street which is open to cyclists going in that direction).
-
- Mind you, the other day I saw a policeman stop someone who was cycling
- along just by grabbing hold of them. Since they were going at a fair
- speed they fell off, and could have hurt themselves - I wonder whether
- the police could be sued for this?

- Ha-ha. Sadly, no :-)
