  11. This is in response to R. Pitts question on Surah 5:78 of the Qur'an as to
  12.        what the term "they" in the sentence (yet see in what ways *they* are
  13.        turned away) refer to:
  14.           I did not quote the entire surah, nor the verses preceding 5:78,
  15.           otherwise, this problem of identifying 'they' would not have arisen.
  16.           I am sorry for this. The word 'they' in the verse does not refer
  17.           either to Jesus or his mother, Maryam, but to Christians. Allah
  18.           here is accusing the christians of how they are turned away when
  19.           the truth of the matter concerning Jesus was that he was nothing
  20.           more than a human being and a Prophet, the likes of whom had passed
  21.           away before him. Yet christians claim divinity for Jesus|
  22.   I also realised thru' our correspondence (with R. Pitts and S. Wiggins) that
  23.   most western christians are unaware of the fact that Allah is the God of
  24.   Moses, Abraham, Jesus, and all humanity. Allah is not different from the
  25.   Jewish concept of God. As a matter of fact, the old Syriac (Aramaic) term
  26.   for God is Allaha. In Arabic, which is a semitic language and a sister langu-
  27.   age to Aramaic the last letter 'a' is simply dropped. The Arab christians use
  28.   the same term for refering to God (God the Father), of course, their underst-
  29.   anding about the nature of God is quite different from Muslims and Jews.
  30.   Another associated point: YHWH is not Jehovah, nor is it Yahway. No Jew knows
  31.   how to pronounce it correctly, since the vowels were never put in the Torah.
  32.   Whatever it is, YHWH means same God, or Elohim, or Elaha (or Eloh) or Allaha
  33.   or Allah (it is simply one of the attributes of God).
