  11. The following is a compilation of various sources regarding the threatened
  12. Azerbaijani nuclear attack against Armenia.

  18. Radio Liberty Daily Report   No. 221, 16 November 1992 AZERBAIJANI INTERIOR 
  19. MINISTER THREATENS NUCLEAR STRIKE AGAINST ARMENIA. Azerbaijani Interior 
  20. Minister Iskander Gamidov, who has ties with the Turkish right wing National
  21. Labor Party ("Grey Wolves), claimed at the third congress of the Azerbaijan
  22. Musavat Party in Baku that Azerbaijan has a total of six nuclear weapons, and 
  23. that "if the Armenians do not come to their senses" he would authorize a 
  24. nuclear strike against Erevan, according to Rossiiskaya gazeta of 13 November.
  25. Gamidov also reportedly advocated the creation of a Turanian state that would
  26. encompass northern Iran, and extend to Siberia, China and India.  (Liz Fuller,

  31. Turan News Agency (Baku) BAKU (20 Nov.) TURAN: Chairman of the parliament isa 
  32. gambarov distributd the official statement, running that Azerbaijan had no 
  33. nuclear weapons on his territory.
  34.    It was interior minister iskander hamidov who engineered another political 
  35. fight with his next baloney.  The minister pubicaly declared that he had 
  36. several nuclar bombs and would drop them on armenia, should the latter fail to 
  37. stop its aggression against Azerbaijan.
  38.    The chairman of the parliament announced at the milli mejlis today that such
  39. irresponsible declarations were giving rise to the world community's distrucst 
  40. and might have grave complications for the republic.
  41.    Members of the milli mejlis also condemn the interior minister's actions.
