  16. Today the Office of the President-Elect in Washington has began
  17. electronic distribution of statements by the President-Elect.
  18. As of this date, no policy statement has been released on
  19. the frequency of distribution through this channel.  Nor has
  20. a plan been released for on-going two-way communication.
  21. However, given the interest of some transition team members
  22. in the full utilization of electronic channels, it is expected
  23. that regular use of this medium by the new administration
  24. will be forthcoming.

  40.       I am saddened by the death today of President Bush's mother,
  41.  Dorothy Walker Bush.  She was a remarkable woman, whom Hillary,
  42.  Chelsea and I had the good fortune to meet in Maine several years
  43.  ago. Throughout his life, President Bush has put his family first.

  45.       I know it is a difficult day for the President and Mrs. Bush.
  46.  Late this afternoon, I called President Bush to express our
  47.  concerns.  Hillary and I offered our condolences and tonight, they
  48.  are in our thoughts and prayers.
