  24. Nor do I.  The point of the example, though, is to show that the
  25. pro-choice view cannot be established by categorical statements about
  26. abstract rights of autonomy.  Rather, you have to consider just what
  27. the z/e/f is, how great a burden pregnancy is, and whether it is
  28. appropriate to require the woman to bear that burden in accordance
  29. with our normal concepts of responsibility.

  36. I don't know what you mean by gender equivalence.  If it is a rational
  37. conception of fairness it can't require impossible things, like male
  38. pregnancy.  Possibly men ought to bear some additional burden to
  39. compensate for the special burdens that women bear and that only they
  40. can bear.  I don't have any objection in principle to that, although I
  41. don't know what the specifics would be.
