- Good description, Charleen. For the most part, it's not a painful procedure,
- just somewhat uncomfortable. If having a mammogram hurts a lot, the X-ray tech
- isn't doing it right.

- A tip: if you're prone to sore breasts before your period, don't have a
- mammogram done at that time.

- And remember: mammograms are only about 80% effective in detecting breast
- lumps, so be sure to keep doing those monthly self-exams, also.
