  15.      You know Kenn, this may or may not surprise you,
  16. but I would pretty much go along with that.  For one
  17. thing, so-called etiquette experts such as Miss
  18. Manners do hold that it's rude, even though many
  19. people (particularly women) do it anyway. I would
  20. agree with Miss Manners, if for no other reason than
  21. it tends to make the recipient self-conscious.

  23.      Now oddly enough, while I find "polite" remarks
  24. about my clothes or appearance to be annoying, I enjoy
  25. complimentary remarks that make it obvious the
  26. remarker finds me sexually attractive, be they female
  27. or male.  Go figure.

  29.      Perhaps this is because most of us males who
  30. aren't famous musicians, or whatever, are so
  31. infrequently treated as sex objects that we enjoy
  32. it when it occasionally occurs.  I am, however, as
  33. sure as I can be (short of being one) that if I were
  34. a woman I would tell some man clueless enough to
  35. walk up to me as a total stranger and remark about
  36. my appearance to fuck off.  The reason I would do
  37. this is because I would believe any reasonably
  38. intelligent and perceptive man would know how often
  39. women are harassed by men using this approach and
  40. would never dream of taking the chance of being
  41. mistaken for yet another asshole.  Because just
  42. going on pure numbers, the overwhelming probability
  43. would be that he *was* just another asshole.
