  22. Actually, no: duels were usually fought to settle an affair of honor;
  23. once a single touch had been made or a sigle shot had been fired, honor
  24. was satisfied and the offended party could hold his head up again.  This
  25. is why the Hamilton/Burr duel was such a furor -- Hamilton threw his
  26. shot (unless the rumor is true and he had a misfore from a hair-trigger)
  27. but Burr shot him anyway.
