-
- Important point #1: what is the most frequently occurring gender of the
- people who control film studios and publishing houses?
-
- What's the gender of the people buying the books and seeing the movies?
-
- Important point #2: In writing seminars, I have frequently been told
- that men often write these stories and pseudonymify with women's
- names.
-
- You have a source for that? I've heard exactly the opposite at writing
- seminars etc. I know a number of such writers and aspiring writers, and
- they're uniformly women. I don't hink I believe you.
-
- Important point #3: Women act in porn films, this does not mean that
- violence in pornography is a "fantasy shared by women and men".
-
- Where is bloody hell did the pornography issue come from?
-
- Likewise, because women sell (what men are purchasing for publication
- for sale to women) these stories does not mean that they share the
- fantasy. If they did, they'd be lolling about waiting for someone to
- rescue them, eh?
-
- Don't be silly, Myts. I fantasize sometimes about hitting a home run in
- the majors -- but I don't loll around waiting for the Rockies to draft me.
-
- Important point #4: There's nothing wrong with having a fantasy about
- someone rescuing you. The problem is that all too often women (and men)
- come to believe that this is their only option.
-
- Only too true: cf. the recent election.
-
- And they may not be too far wrong if the statistics which say that 40
- percent of homeless people are women escaping violent partners, is
- true.
-
- Attention all hands: the non sequitur light is lit.
-
- We don't take these things seriously because we are humorless castrating
- femanazi dykes, but because their consequences can be measured in human
- suffering and pain, on both sides of the gender line.
-
- This is a nice sentence but whatever are you talking about: does it have
- anything to do with the previous article? I think you've taken one step
- too many for me.
