  25. Here are some numbers.  The average duration of human copulation is about
  26. four minutes.  This compares quite favorably to our close cousins, the
  27. chimpanzee and gorilla, who clock in at about one minute.  However, our
  28. more distant cousin, the orangutan, manages about twenty minutes on average.
  29. (Orangs also prefer to copulate in the trees rather than on the ground.)
  30. Among mammals, though, the record-holder is some rodent at twelve hours!
