- Doesn't always work that way. When I used to teach at a small college,
- the administration didn't care what I wore, and the male teachers used to wear
- torn up jeans all the time. So I went in with my jeans and waist length
- hair. I had major discipline problems, students paid no attention to me
- (except to ask me out on dates), and once when I asked if there were any
- questions some smartass wanted to know how long I had followed the dead.
- Next semester, I cut my hair, wore makeup, shaved my legs and wore (shudder)
- panty hose and suits. No problems. Raised my student's test scores by a
- ridiculous amount. Moral of the story: if I'm playing the role, I wear
- the costume. People don't think to ask if you really fit the role if you
- look like you do.
