  24. Doesn't always work that way.  When I used to teach at a small college,
  25. the administration didn't care what I wore, and the male teachers used to wear
  26. torn up jeans all the time.  So I went in with my jeans and waist length
  27. hair.  I had major discipline problems, students paid no attention to me
  28. (except to ask me out on dates), and once when I asked if there were any
  29. questions some smartass wanted to know how long I had followed the dead.
  30. Next semester, I cut my hair, wore makeup, shaved my legs and wore (shudder)
  31. panty hose and suits.  No problems.  Raised my student's test scores by a 
  32. ridiculous amount.  Moral of the story: if I'm playing the role, I wear 
  33. the costume.  People don't think to ask if you really fit the role if you 
  34. look like you do.
