- I'm really surprised to hear people saying that they're afraid to
- bring up the subject of contingency plans for a breakup in advance, or
- that doing so is a sign that you're not really serious about the
- relationship. Good grief, if you *can't* bring yourself to talk about
- financial planning, I'd really question whether you have the openness
- and willingness to communicate that's necessary for a successful
- relationship!

- BTW, as an alternative to the three accounts approach, when my
- ex-sweetie and I were living together we simply kept track of our
- finances individually and took turns paying the rent and other joint
- expenses. Neither one of us was exactly rich at the time either (we
- were both grad students).
