- Shortly after the U.S. elections, I saw or heard a piece of news on TV or
- radio about the ancestry of Bill Clinton and George Bush. The American
- representative from Burkes (the company that publishes "Burkes Peerage" and
- related works) was saying that the election could be seen as revenge for
- an act that occured many centuries ago. Sometime in early English history
- (somewhere between 1100 and 1400, I can't remember exactly when), one of
- Bill Clinton's ancestors, an English Lord, was part of a force that rebelled
- against the current English king, one of George Bush's ancestors. The
- rebelious barons were soundly defeated by the king and stripped of their
- wealth and power.
