- Depends on the State. The oldest records in Maryland for instance
- have been moved to the State Archives. The other records (after 1800
- maybe) still reside at the court houses. Just go to the local court
- house and look for the records section. They have wills, court cases,
- deeds, tax records, etc.. Ask somebody there how the records are
- indexed; it is quite easy to find wha you are looking for once you get
- the hang of the indexing system.
