  16. Before much answer and discussion, I am curious: is there a FAQ file that
  17. deals with major doctrinal questions and rights and wrongs such as suicide?

  19. These days, suicide is usually being considered in the context of someone
  20. who wants to throw the life they were given back in God's face. Now popular
  21. among the cultural elite these days is the notion of "assisted suicide"
  22. and other forms of self-destruction as a right or prerogative.

  24. I'd like to toss one of the first easily debateable ideas out that if a
  25. person is giving their life for a friend, family or God, perhaps not.
  26. But if a person is hurling the package back at God in disgust, probably
  27. so.

  29. If we take upon ourselves the notion that a human life created by God to
  30. be lived in accordance with His wishes is really something we can do with
  31. whatever we want regardless, we've really worked past the specific matter
  32. of suicide to the underlying matter of who owns that life ultimately.

  34. Hence the dilemma of our society; once enough people
  35. have convinced themselves that God either doesn't exist or doesn't care,
  36. where are the moral bulwarks to prevent the ethic of suicide?  Preoccupation
  37. with the self ultimately arrives at one of its most horrible and logical
  38. conclusions.
