- I can't tell from your address where you are, but
- I know that for the three and a half years I lived
- in New Haven, Ct. I was *desperate* for a boyfriend
- and could barely even get myself laid (let's not even
- bring up the subject of Yalies, OK?)
-
- What did I do? I moved to the big city. I met Eddie
- a month later and were were together four and a half
- years. Advice #1: Increase your chances by increasing
- the QPSI* of your environment. Get involved with other
- gay people in non-bar environments - volunteer orgs,
- hotlines, baseball teams.
-
- What did I do after Eddie? I went to Thanksgiving dinner
- at a friend's place in Baltimore and met someone who was
- visiting from South Carolina. Advice #2: trust serendipity.
- I wasn't looking for a boyfriend, but *boom* there he was
- and now he lives with me.
-
- Love isn't something that you can force, and there's
- lots of other things you can do to stay happy and
- fulfilled in the meantime.
-
- I know this probably doesn't help the way you're feeling
- right now, but know that you *will* get over it and
- feel better and be able to enjoy the memories.
