  24. I know that for the three and a half years I lived
  25. in New Haven, Ct. I was *desperate* for a boyfriend
  26. and could barely even get myself laid (let's not even
  27. bring up the subject of Yalies, OK?)

  29. What did I do?  I moved to the big city.  I met Eddie
  30. a month later and were were together four and a half
  31. years.  Advice #1:  Increase your chances by increasing
  32. the QPSI* of your environment.  Get involved with other
  33. gay people in non-bar environments - volunteer orgs, 
  34. hotlines, baseball teams.

  36. What did I do after Eddie?  I went to Thanksgiving dinner
  37. at a friend's place in Baltimore and met someone who was
  38. visiting from South Carolina.  Advice #2: trust serendipity.
  39. I wasn't looking for a boyfriend, but *boom* there he was
  40. and now he lives with me.

  42. Love isn't something that you can force, and there's
  43. lots of other things you can do to stay happy and 
  44. fulfilled in the meantime.

  46. I know this probably doesn't help the way you're feeling
  47. right now, but know that you *will* get over it and 
  48. feel better and be able to enjoy the memories.
