  27. with the argument over the painful lack of diversity of male images
  28. in the gay media.

  34. I would tend to find the attitude that "if you don't find Marky
  35. Mark hot, you're somehow defective" to be at least tangentially
  36. anti-Bear, and that was something I was picking up from some of
  37. the postings.

  51. phrasing like "EVERYONE thinks [X] is hot!" that is insulting 
  52. to those people who honestly do NOT find [X] to be hot.  I find
  53. it interesting that when people use these phrasings for
  54. personalities like "Marky Mark", nary an eyelash bats. When I 
  55. use them [for effect] in reference to a Bearish type, all hell
  56. breaks loose, with claims that I'm shoving my tastes down their
  57. throats, blah, blah, blah, blah -- as if turnabout isn't fair
  58. play.

  63. BZZZZZT!  Wrong.  As someone else pointed out, the problem in the
  64. gay media goes beyond Bears; there's a serious lack of people of
  65. ethnic backgrounds other than white, except of course in media
  66. that specifically focusses on that factor. [The only video
  67. company I know of that routinely has mixed-race casts for its
  68. porno videos is Altomar.]  So -- what can you do?  At bare
  69. minimum, you can write letters, like we do for any other
  70. problem we perceive of this type.
