- SF Examiner polls are generally conducted by phone. I imagine a
- fairly small fraction of gays and lesbians are willing to identify
- themselves as such when a stranger calls on the phone to ask. Gay
- and lesbian people have enough to fear that I'd be surprised if the
- number who are willing to answer such a question is a small percentage
- of the population as a whole.

- In San Francisco, I don't know where anyone got the idea that gays
- and lesbians are represented at 4-5 times the national average here.
- I'm sure it's higher than the average, but I don't know where the factor
- of four or five was dug up.

- Either way, political consultants here assume a much higher proportion
- of gays and lesbians than 15%.
