  31. This suggests that making assault into a serious crime would
  32. be worthwhile, wouldn't it?  Guess what?  Most Americans would
  33. vigorously agree.  Mandatory six month sentence for assault,
  34. regardless of intent, sounds good to me.  Mandatory five years
  35. in prison for aggravated assault also sounds good to me.
  36. That way it is IRRELEVANT whether the assault was because of
  37. the victim's sex, race, wallet status, etc. -- as it should be,
  38. because the victim isn't the cause of the assault, but the
  39. assaulter.

  41. Of course, liberals would have to give up their unconscionable
  42. enthusiasm for violent criminals.
