-
- True enough. But realize that it took an entire "movement" to
- achieve this...not just a simple boycott. By the way, most (and I
- mean MOST) of my black friends in Mississippi prefer the term "black"
- to "African American" because they are no more African than I am
- Norweigan (which is my heritage) and they think it's kind of silly.
- I know that not every (maybe even most) black person around the
- country prefers that, I'm just letting you know that it's not politically
- incorrect to use the term black. After all, I'm white, not caucasian.
- Words are simply words. It's the context that makes words bad.
-
- >What, precisely, would be wrong with someone thinking that
- >you're gay?
-
- Hm. I don't know. I wear an earring and some people (especially in
- the south) will think that I am gay, and that is fine. I don't
- particularly care what people *think* about me, but you're proud of
- your homosexuality and I'm proud of my heterosexuality. What is wrong
- with that? Just because I do NOT support Amendment 2 does NOT mean
- that I support Homosexuality. In fact, I do not care what people do
- as long as it does not directly affect me. But Amendment 2 carries a
- bigger punch than just Protected status for homosexuals. It sets a
- scary precedent. They could possibly write amendments that would make
- it legal for an employer to fire me because I like the Atlanta Braves,
- or something (I know that's an extreme, but you get the idea). Back to
- the original point, it doesn't matter, but why would you be offended
- about me *not* putting "Gay $$$" on my money and instead putting "Anti CO 2"
- or something like that? After all, it's amendment 2 that I don't support.
-
- >If you received a $20 bill with "GAY $$$"
- >stamped on it from the bank or as change, what would you do
- >with it? Would you refuse to spend it, lest some grocery
- >clerk think that you're (shudder) a homo?
-
- Well, basically it would be a lie. If I wrote "Gay $$$" on my money,
- it would imply that I am gay, and I'm not. If I wrote "I hate gays"
- on my money, and it somehow found it's way to your wallet, what would
- you think or do? I'm just curious about that, I'm not trying to
- badger you.
