  14. In article <Nov19.020457.19357@yuma.ACNS.ColoState.EDU> wallsj@CS.ColoState.EDU (jeffrey joel walls) writes:
  15. > I know first hand (FIRST HAND) that blacks are *still* discriminated
  16. > against.
  17.
  18. Nobody is saying that they aren't.  It's no longer legal,
  19. however, and doesn't have the patina of respectability that
  20. gaybashing does.  While an end to bigotry is obviously
  21. desirable (and necessary), when African-Americans lose
  22. their jobs or are denied housing because of their race,
  23. they have legal recourse.  And *that*, friend, is a
  24. direct result of the civil rights movement.
  25.
  26. >>And for those (straight and gay alike) who are not
  27. >>participating in a boycott, I think it would be great if
  28. >>you all would write or stamp "GAY $$$" on your paper money
  29. >>(no, it's not illegal) and write it on your checks if you
  30. >>spend money in Colorado.
  31.
  32. > No, that would imply that I am gay, and I am definitely straight!
  33.
  34. What, precisely, would be wrong with someone thinking that
  35. you're gay?  If you received a $20 bill with "GAY $$$"
  36. stamped on it from the bank or as change, what would you do
  37. with it?  Would you refuse to spend it, lest some grocery
  38. clerk think that you're (shudder) a homo?
  39. --
  40.            Hate is not a family value.  Boycott Colorado
