  40. A Wolf chased a Goat, and the Goat jumped up on a high rock to escape.
  41. Then the Wolf lay down at the bottom of the rock, waiting for the Goat
  42. to come down. After three long days and nights of waiting, the Wolf said
  43. in a loud voice: I am hungry; I am going off to get some food! The Goat
  44. heard the Wolf say this, saw him go away into the forest, and jumped
  45. down from the rock. The first thing the Goat then did was to go to a
  46. brook which ran nearby, for he was terribly thirsty. As he was drinking
  47. he saw his reflection in the water and said: What magnificent legs I
  48. have! What a wonderful beard! And such horns! Just let that Wolf come
  49. back again, and I'll show him who is the better man! Just then, with a
  50. shout of laughter, the Wolf ran from the bushes where he had been
  51. hiding, and killed the Goat!
