  12. I would like to obtain some information about the nondiscrimination
  13. policies of these two schools.

  15. First:  The current University of Michigan nondiscrimination statement makes
  16. no mention of sexual orientation.  What is the status of efforts to have
  17. sexual orientation included?

  20. Second:  Indiana University includes the following statement in some of its
  21. course catalogs:

  23.      Indiana University has an Affirmative Action office on each campus
  24.      and complies with all federal regulations against discrimination
  25.      on the basis of sex, age, race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual
  26.      orientation, veteran status, or disability.

  28. This statement is a cop-out becuase, as we all know, there are no federal regs
  29. against discrimination based on sexual orientation.  Also, I called the
  30. Office of Affirmative Action in Bloomington and asked for a fax of the
  31. official nondiscrimination policy.  What they sent was entitled "Reaffirmation
  32. of the Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy" and made NO MENTION of
  33. sexual orientation.  Does this mean that IU provides no protection against
  34. such discrimination, or do I not have the full policy?
