- I would like to obtain some information about the nondiscrimination
- policies of these two schools.
-
- First: The current University of Michigan nondiscrimination statement makes
- no mention of sexual orientation. What is the status of efforts to have
- sexual orientation included?
-
-
- Second: Indiana University includes the following statement in some of its
- course catalogs:
-
- Indiana University has an Affirmative Action office on each campus
- and complies with all federal regulations against discrimination
- on the basis of sex, age, race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual
- orientation, veteran status, or disability.
-
- This statement is a cop-out becuase, as we all know, there are no federal regs
- against discrimination based on sexual orientation. Also, I called the
- Office of Affirmative Action in Bloomington and asked for a fax of the
- official nondiscrimination policy. What they sent was entitled "Reaffirmation
- of the Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy" and made NO MENTION of
- sexual orientation. Does this mean that IU provides no protection against
- such discrimination, or do I not have the full policy?
-
- Help with these questions would be appreciated. Please email my account
- directly.
-
- Thanks,
