  23. I think "chthonic" (also "chthonian") means: of or
  24. pertaining to the gods or spirits of the underworld (from
  25. khthon, earth).

  27. I hadn't though of chthonic as referring to destructiveness,
  28. but I guess it could.

  30. Strange how a word (and really, it didn't seem to me such a
  31. high-falutin' word as all that) itself gets to be a subject.

  33. I'm content to leave being Mozart to Tom Flesher, since the
  34. part would now be a touch too chthonic for me.  Even
  35. Beethoven is not someone I'd want to be, for I'd be writing
  36. my last quartet right about now.  I could stand being Bach,
  37. I guess, for I'd have eight more years and the Art of Fugue
  38. still ahead of me.
