  18. The third meeting of the National Steering committe for the 1993
  19. March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Equal Rights
  20. and Liberation was held over the weekend of October 3 and 4, 1992
  21. in Denver, Colorado.

  23. The finalized platform (the March demands) and the calendar of events
  24. (as of 9/15/92) were presented to the NSC.  The following is the
  25. platform of the 1993 March On Washington, voted on and approved by
  26. the NSC.

  29.            Action Statement Preamble --- The Platform
  30.  
  31. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender movement recognizes
  32. that our quest for social justice fundamentally links us to the
  33. struggles against racism and sexism, class bias, economic injustice
  34. and religious intolerance.  We must realize, if one of us is
  35. oppressed, we all are oppressed.  The diversity of our movement
  36. requires and compels us to stand in opposition to all forms of
  37. oppression that diminish the quality of life for all people.  We
  38. will be viligant in our determination to rid our movement and our
  39. society of all forms of oppression and exploitation, so that all
  40. of us can develop to our full human potential without regard to
  41. race, religion, sexual orientation/identification, identity,
  42. gender expresssion, ability, age or class.
  43.  
  44.                      The March Demands
  45.  
  46. 1.  We demand passage of a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender
  47. Civil Rights Bill and an end to discrimination by State and Federal
  48. governments including the military; repeal of all sodomy laws and
  49. other laws that criminalize private sexual expression between
  50. consenting adults.

  52. 2.  We demand massive increases in funding AIDS education, research,
  53. and patient care; universal access to health care including
  54. alternative therapies; and an end to sexism in medical research
  55. and health care.
  56.  
  57. 3.  We demand legislation to prevent discrimination against lesbians,
  58. gays, bisexuals and transgender people in the areas of family diversity,
  59. custody, adoption and foster care and that the definition of family
  60. includes the full diversity of all family structures.
  61.  
  62. 4.  We demand full and equal inclusion of lesbians, gays, bisexuals
  63. and transgender people in the educational system, and inclusion of
  64. lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender studies in multicultural
  65. curricula.

  67. 5.  We demand the right to reproductive freedom and choice, to control
  68. our own bodies, and an end to sexist discrimination.
  69.  
  70. 6.  We demand an end to racial and ethnic discrimination in all forms.
  71.  
  72. 7.  We demand an end to discrimination and violent oppression based on
  73. actual or perceived sexual orientation/identification, race, religion,
  74. identity, sex and gender expression, disability, age, class, and
  75. AIDS/HIV infection.
