  12. In article <1992Nov13.170045.899@PacBell.COM> rjwill6@PacBell.COM (Rod Williams) writes:
  13. >[Clinton comment on overturning military ban deleted]
  14.
  15. >That last line carries some weight, I think.  Why would he
  16. >commit himself so thoroughly to overturning the ban if he knew
  17. >he mightn't follow through?  It's not like he didn't know
  18. >only too well that there'd be a great to do about it...
  19.
  20. A while back, Barbara Walters interviewed "Stormin'" Normin about
  21. overturning the ban.  He was against it because it would cause
  22. "morale" problems.  In other words, the straight boyz wouldn't get
  23. along with 'em.  Some gay-positive heterosexuals watching with
  24. me started to (reluctantly) buy into that - until I reminded them that
  25. was the "official" reason for not allowing blacks to serve with whites
  26. several decades ago (the white boyz wouldn't get along with 'em).
  27.
  28. At least Normin what's-his-name didn't bother to attack homosexuals as
  29. less-than-real-men or perverts.  Still, it's unfortunate that he would
  30. fall back on yet another outdated line of crap.
