- A very good article on the use of electricity on Shabbat was published a few
- years back in the Journal of Halakha and Contemporary Society. The authors
- point out in a footnote that a few poskim in the late 19th century prohibited
- the use of electricity on Shabbat based on the notion that it is a form of
- fire, and the authors state simply that these poskim apparently misunderstood
- the physics involved. More recent responsa on this issue reflect a better
- understanding of what electricity is.
