- I know enough has been said about the derogatory nature of the
- term "Banana Republic", so I won't comment on that part. As
- for the store itself, it offers far more than T-shirts. Its
- offerings range from shirts & sweaters to Docker-type pants to
- Safari-style to socks to even women's dresses. A few (3-4)
- years back, they predominantly carried outdoor/safari-style clothes.
- Lately they seemed to have diversified.
-
- To the Japanese tourist, I don't think it matters where the
- clothes were made. The important thing is that it has the BR
- logo on it. From what I hear, the Gap was the "in" store for
- the tourists until about last year. Now, I guess it's BR.
-
- BR clothes, in general, seem to have high-quality. They are
- rugged and last a long time.
