- For your information, An F-1 visa has no specific expiry date. It has
- something known as D-S, meaning Duration of Status. This visa is valid
- as long as you are enrolled in some school as a student. It never
- expires. I cant believe that you actually got an F-1 visa in mexico.
- F-1 visa is strictly issued in the home country of the person who
- applies for it.
-
- Maybe you got an extension. But If you are in this country & you are no
- longer on F-1 status & need to get back to F-1 status, then all you need
- to do is apply to the INS along with supporting documents like your new
- I-20, your old I-20, attached letter explaining why you were out of
- school (out of status), & the relevant INS forms for "reinstatement of
- status".
-
- Good Luck!
-
- P.S BTW You will have no problems in applying directly to the INS. They
- would rather have a legal student here than have an illegal alien.
