        Announcement of new permanent jobs in higher Education
        ======================================================
                     TEI of Heraklion
                     Science Department
                     Computer Science Group


1. Two (2) positions at the level of the Professor or Assistant Professor on
   (kathigitis h epikouros kathigitis ) on the subject of Software Engineering.
2. Three (3) positions at the level of Applications Instructor (kathigitis
   efarmogon) on the subject  of Informatics - Applications Development.
3. One (1) position at the level of Applications Instructor (kathigitis
   efarmogon) with experience on the maintenance of Computing Systems
   (hardware).
4. One (1) position at the level of Applications Instructor (kathigitis
   efarmogon) with experience on the installation-maintenance and support
   of operating systems (system administrator).

The applicants must fulfill the following qualifications according to the
corresponding laws:

Position of Professor
---------------------

1. B.Sc degree issued by a Greek or an equally honored foreign University.
2. Recognized Ph.D. relative to the subject of the announced position.
3. Depending on the type of the announced position:
 a. Notable scientific presence i.e. papers published in well known journals,
    textbooks or
 b. expertize on the application or development of scientific knowledge and
    methods.
A minimum of 10 years working experience is required (after the B.Sc) on a
specialty that corresponds to the announced position.

Position of Assistant Professor
-------------------------------

1. B.Sc degree issued by a Greek or an equally honored Foreign University, or
   TEI diploma or an equally honored Foreign diploma, in case there is no such
   University specialty.
2. Recognized post graduate studies on subjects relative to the announced
   position.
3. Notable scientific presence or notable experience on the application of
   scientific knowledge and methods at the level and area of the announced
   position.
   A mininum of 7 years working experience is required (after the B.Sc. or
   diploma).
   Post graduate studies are not necessary if the applicant can show notable
   expertize on the subject matter (according to a ministerial decision).

Position of Applications Instructor
----------------------------------

1) TEI diploma or an equally honored foreign diploma and specialization
   certificate that can be substituted by 3 years work on the subject area at
   an educational intutition, and can be proved by an appropriate certificate,
   or B.Sc degree issued by a Greek or an equally honored foreign University,
   if there is no TEI applicant with a relevant specialty.
2) Notable experience on the application of scientific knowledge and methods
   at the level and area of the announced position.
   A minimum of 8 years working experience on similar applications is required.
   Teaching experience especially at the level of tertiary education, will be
   valued.


Additionally to the above the following are required:

1. Professor's Position: excellent knowledge of at least one of the following
   foreign languages English, French, German, Italian, Russian that can be
   certified (according to the corresponding ministerial decisions) from:
   a. Graduate or postgraduate diplomas at the country where the corresponding
      language is spoken.
   b. Diploma at the level of Proficiency that is issued by an authorized
      institution like British Council, Institut Francais, Goethe Institut,
      Casa d' Italia or a similar intitute for the russian language.
   c. Research or teaching appointment of one (1) year minimun at a country
      where  language is spoken or publications in well known foreign journals,
      if these ctivities can be proved and  will be evaluated during the
      judgement of the applicant (according to the corresponding laws).
   d. The bibliography on the above languages, that the Ph.D. applicant uses
      and refers to his thesis.
   e. Successfull examination, on one or more of the above languages, at the
      presence of a committee consisting of three foreign language Professors,
      that is formed by a decision of the Educational Minister, for those
      applicants  that do not satisfy a) or b) above.

For the position of the Assistant Professor and Applications Instructor,
knowledge of at least one of the following foreign languages English, French,
German, Italian, Russian that can be certified (according to the
corresponding ministerial decisions) from:
 a. Graduate or postgraduate diplomas at the country where the corresponding
    language is spoken.
 b. Diploma at the level of Lower that is issued by an authorized institution
    like, British Council, Institut Francais, Goethe Institut, Casa d' Italia
    or a similar institute for the russian language.
 c. Research or teaching appointment of one (1) year minimum at a country where
    the language is spoken or publications in well known foreign journals.
 d. A minimum of one (1) year continuous residency for studies or work at the
    country where the corresponding language is spoken.

The maximum age limit for appointment is 45 years old that can be extended to
55 years if the applicant works on a similar subject on the public sector,
or a public or private big  greek or foreign company, or a greek or foreign
educational institute.

Necessary documents and Application deadline

Along with the application, applicants must submit, in a 30 day period starting
from the last announcement to the press, the following
1. Validated copies of all their degrees.
   If these are issued by a foreign institution, must be validated by the
   Greek Consulate of the region, officially translated and recognized by
   DIKATSA.
2. Army certificate (type A)
3. Registration certificate issued by the municipality or the community stating
   their naturalization (Greek).
4. Three copies of a complete C.V. with a short analysis of their authoring
   (papers, textbooks etc) and scientific work.
5. Three copies of each paper or publication.
6. Responsibility statement (ypeuthene delose) (B.D./660/65), (you can get is
   from the Science Department).
7. Any other information or document that could help the reporting committee
   form a complete profile of the applicant.
