  21. Dennis Brutus is a former political prisoner with Nelson Mandela
  22. on Robben Island. He is also known as one of Africa's top poets
  23. and the leader of the movement to ban South Africa from Olympic
  24. sports.

  26. Deported from South Africa, Brutus was nearly deported from the
  27. United States in the 1980s. MIM's predecessors took up work at that
  28. time to stop the deportation. Since that time Brutus has been
  29. a professor at various institutions in the United States.

  31. Last summer, Brutus was finally enabled to return to South Africa, where
  32. he met with Mandela and other Black leaders. He also is just back from
  33. addressing the UN on the status of the former sports ban on South Africa.

  36. Internationalist Movement, the Harvard African Students Organization,
  37. the Harvard Afro-American Studies Department, the Harvard Black
  38. Student Association, the Northeastern Department of African-American
