  11. I have read of theories that suggest that deforestation changes
  12. rain patterns in ways that can lead to desertification.  This has
  13. been suggested to be happening in the Amazon and in eastern Africa,
  14. where frequent droughts are leading to famine.  It is known that
  15. Ethiopia and Somalia have experienced significant deforestation.

  18. climatologists?
