  27. Applications are available and MUST be filed in person or by mail with:

  37. Applications must be postmarked no later than the final filing date.
  38. Applications postmarked, personally delivered or received via interoffice
  39. mail after the final filing date will not be accepted for any reason.

  41.      If you meet the entrance requirements for this class and for
  42.      State Oil and Gas Supervisor scheduled on the same day, you may
  43.      file for both examinations on a single application.

  45. NO WRITTEN TEST IS REQUIRED
  46. The entire examination will consist of an interview.

  48. QUALIFICATIONS APPRAISAL
  49. It is anticipated that interviews will be held during <<WAS>> December 1992/
  50. January 1993; <<IS NOW>> January/February 1993 in Sacramento.

  52. SALARY RANGE: $6340-6990
  53.  
  54. These is an open examination.  Applications will not be accepted on a
  55. promotional basis.  Career credits do not apply.
  56.  
  57.      NOTE: All applicants must meet the examination and/or experience
  58.      requirements for this examination by the final filing date.

  61. REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMITTANCE TO EXAMINATIONS
  62.  
  63.      NOTE: It is your responsibility to make sure you meet the
  64.      education and/or experience requirements stated below.  Your
  65.      signature on your application indicates that you have read,
  66.      understood, and possess the basic qualifications required.
  67.  
  68. Qualifying experience may be combined on a proportionate basis if the
  69. requirements state below include more than one pattern and are
  70. distinguished as Either "I", or "II", or "III", etc.  For example,
  71. candidates possessing qualifying experience amounting to 50% of the
  72. required time of Pattern I and additional experience amounting to 50% of
  73. the required time of Pattern II may be admitted to the examination as
  74. meeting 100% of the overall experience requirements.

  76. Pursuant to Public Resources Code, Division 1, Chapter 1, Article 2,
  77. Section 3103, the chief deputy shall be a competent engineer or geologist,
  78. registered in the State, and experienced in the development and production
  79. of oil and gas.  (Applicants who do not meet this criteria will be admitted
  80. to the examination but they must attain registration before appointment to
  81. the position.)

  87. Three years of progressively responsible experience in the California State
  88. Service in a line or staff position that has included participation in
  89. program or policy development and program management in the fields of
  90. geology or petroleum engineering.  This experience must have been in a
  91. position performing duties at a level of responsibility equal to Senior Oil
  92. and Gas Engineer.

  96. Broad and extensive (more than five years) experience in oil, gas,
  97. geothermal drilling or production operations, at least two years of which
  98. shall have been in a highly responsible supervisory capacity.  (A graduate
  99. degree in petroleum engineering or a closely related field may be
  100. substituted for two years of the nonsupervisory experience.)

  102. THE POSITION
  103.  
  104. The incumbent acts as the direct assistant to the State Oil and Gas
  105. Supervisor in all areas within the division; identifies and reviews the
  106. need for and objectives of present or proposed programs, functions or
