  13.     Thanks for the corrections/information/whatever.Over the weekend
  14. I had a look at some stuff on nuclear testing by the French.Between 1966
  15. and 1974 they conducted 44 atmospheric tests in the Pacific,39 at
  16. Muroroa and 5 somewhere else.Some of these were attended at (and delayed)
  17. by Greenpeace.At least 2 people asked about that.
  18.     Saying that what GP did was comparable to a war is to take my
  19. point a little facetiously,I think.There are times when your conscience
  20. may dictate that you break a law which is unjust:this happens all over
  21. the world,and in some circumstances this involves putting yourselves in
  22. danger. Only in extreme circumstances,of course,would this justify
  23. endangering someone else,and no-one has quoted any source (that I've
  24. seen, anyway) which shows that GP were doing this.Does anyone have a
  25. detailed account of what happened? If GP purposely rammed the freighter
  26. or placed it in a position where it couldn't evade,then this was
  27. obviously wrong.I personally doubt that this is what happened.From my
  28. following of events in this sphere,The most likely thing would be that
  29. the freighter was for some reason not *willing* to give way.This kind of
  30. thing has happened before,for instance when GP were harassing a British
  31. vessel dumping drums of low-level (I think) waste at sea.The presence of
  32. an inflatable didn't stop the drums being  dumped before,beside,
  33. immediately behind or,in one case,on top of it.From their size,the drums
  34. must have weighed several tonnes.This is on film,incidentally.
  35.     So,does anyone have a detailed report? I haven't seen one,so as
  36. far as I know this whole "debate" could just be speculation.
