  11. Hi,

  13. I am doing a class project on repair of vertebral column injuries in the lumbar
  14. region of the spine.  I am looking at injuries such as degradation and 
  15. herniation of intervertebral disks.  My project involves looking at current
  16. practices, advances in treatment over a 5 year period, and a 10-15 year
  17. future outlook in treatment.  My class is a graduate course biomaterials, and thus
  18. I am looking for specific material applications to such treatments. (i.e.
  19. improved plate and screw alloys, artificial disks, etc.).

  21. I would appreciate if someone can refer me to texts or articles which deal
  22. with this subject.  Also if someone has any input on the future of such
  23. treatments, I would be interested to hear from them.
