  12.         At Maine Public Broadcasting we had nylon carpet and LOTS of
  13.         static charge. Not good for people or equipment.

  15.         In a dull moment, I took a few 1 meg resistors, curled and
  16.         soldered the ends to eliminate sharp points and gave them to
  17.         anyone who was interested.
  18.  
  19.         When we approached a known "zap point" we would pull our little
  20.         gizmos out and, holding one end of the resistor, touch the
  21.         object.

  23.         The charge is dissipated painlessly. Guests in the studios would
  24.         get this weird look on their face when offered one . . .
