- Hi there!
-
- I posted an article asking a biout going from mono to stereo,
- and I recieved this EXTREEMLY useful response. I was asked to post it
- to the net, as the sender was unable to get it through.

- Hiya! you once asked wether it was possible to make stereo out a mono signal.
-
- Well, there is a off-the-shelf IC for this job ! :-)
-
- It's the TDA3810, in a 20-DIP package made by Philips. It requires some
- small stuff resistors and capacitors and then it's able to make some sort
- of 'spatial' sound very similair to stereo,... naturally, it's not as good
- as the real stereo-stuff... but nevertheless a nice enhancement to dull-mono.
-
- I haven't build it yet (no big deal really, less than 20 components on a small
- PCB) I haven't got the time for it.
-
- It also has an extra feature: It contains a SPATIAL STEREO (R) circuit to
- make ordinairy stereo sound fuller... Obviously, it's a trully consumer-
- electronics chip used in Philips products... It's quite cheap... here in
- the Netherlands (Philips home country) it only costs around DFL 10,- which
- is around US$ 5,- I guess...
-
- Could you be so kind to forward the information I wrote above to the
- sci.electronics newsgroup ? My local Unix-site seems to be a bit ill...
-
- Well, greetings frm Holland !
