  17. An editor at the International Rice Research Institute
  18. (IRRI) in the Philippines has been asked to prepare
  19. a background article about biotechnology in terms that
  20. a nonscientist lay audience would understand.

  22. He will explain what biotechnology is and describe some
  23. of the major techniques used in plant breeding, especially
  24. as applied to rice.
  25.  
  26. If you have any brief information that would be helpful to
  27. him, kindly send copies to me personally, as I am not a
  28. member of this forum and I'll forward them to him.  Any
  29. examples should involve plant breeding, but not necessarily
  30. limited to rice.
