- Last year I bought the Wagner Fine Coat (HVLP) for use with gloss
- water-based poly (Amity). The unit is very nice but just doesn't
- atomize the poly enough to give a nice smooth surface. I worked at it
- for almost a month, consulting with both Amity and Wagner and never was
- able to get a smooth finish. I suppose it would have been good enough
- for a satin finish provided you never touched the surface. I finally,
- regretfully, returned the unit for a refund and went with a nice gun
- for my compressor. I would LOVE to have HVLP, but $180 doesn't give
- good HVLP performance and I don't have $500+ for get a decent unit...
-
- However, spraying is THE way to go and I strongly recommend the
- water-based polys.
