- I'd like to talk some more on the indexing thread that died
- out last week. My $%^#@* JVC VCR which has just recently
- found a new home in my attic, had the indexing capability
- and I used it extensively. I know of several of my tapes
- that had over 30 indexes put on them, so I know that the
- maximum indexing extended at least that high.
-
- More importantly, I'm in the market for a new (non-JVC) VCR
- and I was wondering if the indexes will be usable on other
- decks. Did someone say that JVC was the creater of the index
- system and that it is used under license by all the other
- manufacturers? Is the indexing standardized in format?
-
- Exactly where does the index mark go on the tape? My deck was
- able to put an index mark on during play or record with the only
- notice of this being the momentary loss of audio. While playing
- an indexed tape, however, you could not detect an index if one
- occurred (unless you were in the search mode.)
-
- Anyway, anyone got any thoughts on this?
