- I will be running all connections in a home theater system
- through an a/v receiver. I'd like to use S-Video throughout,
- rather than composite (I must choose one or the other because
- of the receiver).
- Now, there is no problem using the S-Video out of the LD
- player. However, I'm not sure about the SVHS machine. For
- SVHS tapes, there is no problem. I assume for regular VHS
- tapes, there is also no problem (am I wrong on this?). But
- what about cable? Do current SVHS machines run the RF input
- through a filter to provide S-Video output? (I'm looking at
- buying the Mits U67). If not, then how about the LD player
- (the Pioneer D701). Can I use the RF input for cable, utilize
- the "three in-line comb filters" and run S-Video out. Or
- perhaps my only option is to split the cable to the tv and vcr
- and connect only the audio outs of the vcr to the amp. The
- problem with this last solution is that, according to my cable
- company, it is illegal.
- Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks very much
- in advance for any help. BTW, feel free to email or post,
- although, it might be better to email considering the nature
- of the question...
