  13.   Last night I had the opportunity to do a side-by-side comparison
  14. of the new 32" Sony XBR^2 against the 33" Panasonic Gaoo.

  16.  Some details:

  18.  List Price (in CDN $):
  19.   XBR^2: $2899 (monitor only)
  20.   Gaoo : $1999
  21.  
  22.  LD Player:
  23.   Pioneer CLD-D701 connected using the two S-Video outs.
  24.   No audio was connected.
  25.  
  26.  Disc:
  27.   LD-101 (did not contain pornographic scenes :-)
  28.   Pioneer Demo Disc

  30.  My conclusion (I'll spare you the details):
  31.   The bottom line:      The Sony is better.
  32.   The real bottom line: The Sony is NOT worth the extra money.
  33.                           (ie: It certainly isn't 30% better!)

  35.   If you have any opinions on the two sets in question, I'd like to
  36. hear them.  If you want more details of my test results, feel free
  37. to email.  If there is enough interest, I'll post.
  38.   BTW, my next test will be the Panasonic Superflat against the Gaoo
  39. (both 33", about a $250 difference between them locally).  I'll again
  40. post my conclusion, for those who might be interested.
