- I recently rented a TR81, which was supposed to be only a few weeks since
- it was purchased. Using a TDK ME tape I also noticed a lot of dropouts
- and lots of flashes where the pixels were progressively shifted to the
- right over about 3 to 5% of the screen, if there was a straight line on
- the screen it would look like this: |

- There seemed to be a lot more of them at the beginning of the tape than
- 10 minutes or so into the tape. It was very annoying. I was thinking this
- can't really be the way it is or nobody would use the format. So, please,
- tell me it was the tape. I also recorded on regular 8mm and the resolution
- was much better in Hi 8 - and my television was a $300 tv 5 to 6 years
- ago. I'm planning on buying something in Hi-8 soon, though I'm kind of
- wondering if S-VHS-C might be a better bet.
