  17. I am willing to bet that that gouge is at exactly the radius of a CD.
  18. What has happened is that the mechanism that raises the CD to the right
  19. height has jammed and is grinding your LD.  Your disk is probably
  20. kaput.

  22. This happened to me on a Philips (I think it was also a CDV600) a while
  23. ago; a plastic part had fractured.  Being in Japan, service was kind of
  24. a problem (!) so I finally had to remove the whole "raiser" assembly;
  25. now my machine is an LD-only player.  Ces't la vie...
