- I am willing to bet that that gouge is at exactly the radius of a CD.
- What has happened is that the mechanism that raises the CD to the right
- height has jammed and is grinding your LD. Your disk is probably
- kaput.

- This happened to me on a Philips (I think it was also a CDV600) a while
- ago; a plastic part had fractured. Being in Japan, service was kind of
- a problem (!) so I finally had to remove the whole "raiser" assembly;
- now my machine is an LD-only player. Ces't la vie...
