  24. I would not go so far as to say that Betacam "pales" next to M2, or even
  25. 1" or D2 for that matter. 
  26. First of all, Betacam is component (as is M2), D2 and 1" are not. This
  27. provides for less artifacting than one gets with the composite formats.
  28. Also, while M2 may have a slightly better image quality than Betacam, it
  29. is not better than Beta SP. Finally, I would love to know where you are buying
  30. Betacam equipment cheaper than M2...
  31. The broadcast Beta gear is much more expensive than M2, and MUCH more 
  32. widely used. Go into a dozen post houses and see how many Beta machines
  33. you find, versus M2...
  34. I know many editors who prefer Beta SP over 1" or D2, simply because they
  35. can stay in a component domain.
