  12.    In many countries it's the case that if you reserve a room and don't
  13. show up to take it, you're legally liable to the hotel for the cost of
  14. the room if they can't rent it to someone else.  I know this is the case
  15. in Britain, and from what you say it's apparently the case also in
  16. Germany.  So it seems possible that the hotel is within their rights
  17. under German law to bill you.
