- I have two months or so available to travel (February and March
- probably), and I am planning on going to South America. I am interested
- in suggestions on which country(s?) to go to. I definitely am not
- interested in trying to do a whirlwind tour of the continent, I will
- probably go to just one, maybe two countries. Which would you recommend
- and why?
-
- Some criteria:
- I am interested in "lonely-planet" style travel, i.e. budget
- backpacking.
-
- I would like to spend at least a couple weeks in a spanish school to
- brush-up (and I don't want to have to learn portuguese).
-
- When I was in Guatemala this winter, the overwhelming majority of
- people I met coming up from South America said that Colombia was their
- favorite country. I had been planning on going there, but the
- situation seems to be getting worse and worse, so I think I may put
- that off for another trip.
-
- By the way, if anybody is interested, I can send you a write-up of my
- Guatemala/Honduras trip.
