  11. I have two months or so available to travel (February and March
  12. probably), and I am planning on going to South America. I am interested
  13. in suggestions on which country(s?) to go to. I definitely am not
  14. interested in trying to do a whirlwind tour of the continent, I will
  15. probably go to just one, maybe two countries. Which would you recommend
  16. and why?

  18. Some criteria:
  19.   I am interested in "lonely-planet" style travel, i.e. budget
  20.   backpacking. 
  21.  
  22.   I would like to spend at least a couple weeks in a spanish school to
  23.   brush-up (and I don't want to have to learn portuguese).
  24.  
  25. When I was in Guatemala this winter, the overwhelming majority of
  26. people I met coming up from South America said that Colombia was their
  27. favorite country. I had been planning on going there, but the
  28. situation seems to be getting worse and worse, so I think I may put
  29. that off for another trip.

  32. Guatemala/Honduras trip.
