  17. Embassy Location:  The U.S. Embassy in Western Samoa is located in 
  18. the John Williams Building, fifth floor, Beach Road, Apia.  The 
  19. Embassy is open to the public from 9:30 to 12:30 every morning and 
  20. by appointment at other times.  The Embassy can be reached from the 
  21. U.S. c/o P.O. Box 3430 in Apia.  The telephone number is (685) 
  22. 21-631.

  24. Country Description:  The island country of Western Samoa has a 
  25. stable parliamentary democracy with a developing economy.  Tourist 
  26. facilities are accessible by bus, taxi, and car and are within 
  27. walking distance of access roads.  Daily air and ferry service is 
  28. available between Apia, on the island of Upolu, and the larger 
  29. island of Savai'i.

  31. Entry Requirements:  A passport and onward/return ticket are 
  32. required.  A visa is not required for a stay of up to 30 days.  The 
  33. Western Samoa Mission to the U.N. can be contacted for information

  37. Medical Facilities:  Health care facilities in Western Samoa are 
  38. adequate for routine medical treatment, but limited in range and 
  39. availability.  A national hospital is located in Apia and district 
  40. hospitals are available on Savai'i and Upolu.  Doctors and hospitals 
  41. often expect immediate cash payment for health services.  U.S. 
  42. medical insurance is not always valid outside the United States.  
  43. Supplemental medical insurance with specific overseas coverage has 
  44. proved to be useful.  The international travelers hotline of the 
  45. Centers for Disease Control at (404) 332-4559 has additional useful 
  46. health information.

  49. information on guarding valuables and protecting personal security
