- i think the original author feels the VAT scheme is a scam because you
- have to make non-trivial purchases in order to see any benefit (the
- price of a shortwave radio qualifies it as a non-trivial purchase) ...
- several trivial or sorta-trivial purchases which add up to a
- non-trivial amount won't see the VAT refund, full stop. furthermore,
- a cheque for UKL25 is pretty worthless when your bank will charge up
- to that much (in USD, of course) to collect the cheque!
