  23. They've already started a pilot run of this idea.  Part of one of the night
  24. trains between London and Edinburgh was run a bus company called Stagecoach
  25. (who used to run a budget no-frills no-unions service between London and
  26. Edinburgh till they went bust and were taken over by some larger firm; I
  27. don't know exactly what operations they continued, I haven't seen their
  28. buses for a while).  They bought some old BR rolling stock and hooked it
  29. into a BR train.  The then Minister of Transport was on the first run early
  30. this year.  That is, he was on the *beginning* of the first run.  After the
  31. cameras were off him he went to the BR part of the train where he'd
  32. pre-booked a sleeper compartment rather than spend the whole trip enjoying
  33. Stagecoach's idea of comfort.  I don't know if the Stagecoach carriages are
  34. still running.
