- They've already started a pilot run of this idea. Part of one of the night
- trains between London and Edinburgh was run a bus company called Stagecoach
- (who used to run a budget no-frills no-unions service between London and
- Edinburgh till they went bust and were taken over by some larger firm; I
- don't know exactly what operations they continued, I haven't seen their
- buses for a while). They bought some old BR rolling stock and hooked it
- into a BR train. The then Minister of Transport was on the first run early
- this year. That is, he was on the *beginning* of the first run. After the
- cameras were off him he went to the BR part of the train where he'd
- pre-booked a sleeper compartment rather than spend the whole trip enjoying
- Stagecoach's idea of comfort. I don't know if the Stagecoach carriages are
- still running.
